In this episode, I review my dust collector setup in the shop. The ceilings in the barn are only 8‘2“ high, so I decided to run the dust collection under the floor. A dust collection system can be very noisy, so running the piping system beneath the floor and main unit in a separate area can really cut down on the noise and the mess.
I give a good look under the floor joists for a complete view of the piping system for the dust collection system. The piping schematic includes straight and flex pipe to maneuver the system around the floor joists. Along with the piping, I’ll cover some of the tool placements around the shop, the fittings needed to get everything placed and hooked up to the dust collector.
After the dust collector is set up, it’s time to put the floor back down and get everything cleaned up and ready for some projects. I have plans for a new work table for project assembly so I can stop using the table saw platforms for building.
I give a quick spec rundown of the barn, shop and upstairs space and some of the changes the building has undergone since I took ownership of the property. In hindsight, I’m very glad that I didn’t poor a concrete floor into the barn years ago. In the next video, we’ll cover the assembly of the new SawStop table saw and wrap up a few odds and end around the shop to finally get back to building some furniture projects. Thanks for watching!
