Time marches on and everything changes. Back in 2018 I bought one of those prefab sheds 10’ x 16’ for the boys to use as a music studio. We insulated the walls, used canvas instead of drywall for noise reduction and added electricity and a mini split for heating and cooling. The kids had a good time playing some music and it turned out to be a great hangout spot during lockdown. Well fast forward a few years and Jack has moved out and Michael and Walter are busy getting busy with life. My wife Laurel decided that the shed could be her new office so that sounds like my next project. I think the first step in this project will be to put a large window at each end to let some light in and give her a nice view… Definitely more projects to come.

The pieces of noise reduction foam I used on this project are from the studio. The boys used to put the foam over the windows when practicing. To reduce noise and also so we couldn’t see them drinking beer through the window 🙂

When I started to clean out the studio and get ready for the project I decided to make these panels. To notice any real difference in sound quality I know that I will need to make a few more and I’m planning to use one by 1” by 12 inch panels that I found on Amazon.

Here is the link if you’re planning a similar project.

A few of the ideas for my wife’s office/she shed are hardwood floors, built-in shelving and some type of bead board or natural wood on the ceiling.

This should be a fun project and I’m really looking forward to it and hope that it will inspire me to build a not so tiny house one day on the land that I have in Vermont.

Thanks for visiting and don’t forget if you’re looking to build the furniture for your home check out some of my project plans right here.

Be good, Jon
