This year we decided to finally put a new roof on the house.
My friend Jeff suggested Garden State Roofing. I gave them a call, and the salesman Pete came over to the house to give me a free estimate and explain exactly how the job would take place. We chose GAF Roofing ‘s #TimberlineHDZ shingles and a GAF Master Elite Contractor* to get the job done. As a homeowner, a project like this can be a little unnerving. Most projects I try to do myself but a new roof is just too big of a job for me. He explained that the crew would show up along with the dumpsters and first prep the project by tarping off the garden beds to minimize any damage to flowers, trees, and shrubs.
Then, they would tear off the roof from the ridge down. Pete also explained that if they found any rotten sheathing they would replace it. One thing I was particularly impressed with is the fact that they added a cricket behind the chimney. The cricket is a V-shaped structure that helps divert water around the chimney instead of allowing it to puddle up behind it.
Along with recommendations from family and friends, GAF’s website makes it easy to find a certified contractor in your area. Just visit GAF’s website and click “Find a Contractor”.
*Contractors enrolled in GAF certification programs are not employees or agents of GAF, and GAF does not control or otherwise supervise these independent businesses. Contractors may receive benefits, such as loyalty rewards points and discounts on marketing tools from GAF for participating in the program and offering GAF enhanced warranties, which require the use of a minimum amount of GAF products.
