Here’s a link to a recent Wall Street Journal article about the brand new Whitney Museum in NYC (relocated downtown in the trendy Meatpacking District) and the new frames made for many of the masterworks from the collection.   It seems that many of the best works…from artists like Edward Hopper, Jasper Johns and Georgia O’Keefe…were in the wrong frames…many too ornate, too much gold, etc, that distracted from the art itself.    Pretty interesting and check it out here:

The new Whitney opened May 1, 2015.  Here’s a link to their site and to the recently refurbished High Line, which runs next to the Whitney….it was the elevated freight rail line running through the Meatpacking District and is now a beautiful park with gardens, outdoor art exhibits and open space.

The High Line

Jon and I are planning on checking out the new Whitney and the High Line in the next few weeks and will report back with a post and video.  Let us know if anyone gets in to NYC to see it before then.
