Learn how to make simple cutting board with walnut and maple scrap wood. Cutting boards are great woodworking projects and you can use hand tools instead of power tools if you don’t have them. They are pretty easy to make and cutting boards always come in handy in the kitchen and for serving and they make great gifts.
Alternate the walnut and maple accent pieces to get a look and pattern you like.
It’s always good to use a little more glue than normal when gluing up the boards. Add glue to both sides before joining.
I use the router with a chamfer bit to soften the edges on all sides and on the top and bottom of the board before finishing
Once everything is sanded, I apply a generous coating of food safe wax to the cutting board to finish. I used SoCal Woodshop’s Board Wax which works great.
