The final step of the kitchen pantry project is making, fitting and finishing the wooden countertop. I like to use Sapele for countertops because it’s extremely durable and has great character when finished. This project starts at the lumber yard and it makes sense to spend the extra time picking out boards that have a nice grain match and are not warped or damaged. Here’s the how-to video on building the countertop and also a link to the entire playlist for the Kitchen Pantry project series:
Thanks to Waterlox and Rockler Woodworking and Hardware for sponsoring this project.
Here’s the four part Kitchen Cabinet project playlist starting with building and installing the upper cabinets, then building the lower cabinets and installing drawer slides. Next is scribing, fitting and and installing the lower cabinets and finally making and fitting the wooden countertop.
