Every home and property needs to be protected, no matter how safe the area you live in seems to be. So I was excited to get my hands on Panasonic’s HomeHawk wireless monitoring system to test out this great alternative to the standard Security Camera systems.
Traditional Security Camera systems are expensive, wired, and rely on professional installation and ongoing paid monitoring services.
After doing some research, the new HomeHawk™ Front Door by Panasonic of HD cameras seemed to fit the bill on a bunch of important fronts: The Panasonic system offers an affordable alternative that is easy to set up all by yourself. And, in addition to its outdoor camera, HomeHawk took it a step further to make sure your front door is safe and secure.
WHAT YOU GET: The HomeHawk™ KX-HN7000 Series of HD comes equipped with 1 front door HD camera, 2 peripheral HD cameras and 1 wireless access point base to ensure that your home is protected inside and outside. Not to mention the system records everything in color, offers a wider view and is completely wire-free with cameras running on built-in, long-life, rechargeable batteries. You’ll need to purchase a micro-SD card separately for playback.
EASY INSTALL & GREAT INSTRUCTIONS:
I was very impressed with the ease of installation; it took me less than an hour from start to finish to mount the cameras and have them up and running…plus a few extra hours once everything was set up to fully charge the camera batteries. The camera batteries come partially charged for immediate setup. The simple written instructions in the “Quick Start Guide” and also the very handy HomeHawk app that I downloaded to my iPhone were extremely well thought out and made the set up and install easy.
1) To get started, I downloaded the HomeHawk app by scanning the QR Code on the box…this is a really nice feature and the app is very intuitive making the set up simple. I also referred to the printed “Quick Start Guide” as a secondary reference.
2. Use the blue ethernet cable to connect the Access Point to your home router and plug the Access Point with AC adapter into a wall outlet. The app takes your step-by-step through the entire process. (Note: you’ll need to purchase a microSD card into the card slot on the Access Point for playback purposes).
3. Installing the Front Door Camera is easy. Attach the wall mounting adapter with the three screws provided. I always like to pre-drill the holes which makes for a cleaner install of the mounting screws.
4. Snap the front door camera onto the bracket with the camera lens facing towards to ground. Make sure the camera is in the “ON” position before installing and all covers are closed to assure weatherproof.
5. Remove the camera from the mounting bracket by hand or use a flat-headed screwdriver and be sure to fully charge the camera before installing.
6. Installing the Outdoor Camera is simple too and the safety wire and ring are a smart addition in case the camera become dislodged from the heavy duty magnetized mounting ball. Start by threading the safety ring to the camera. Attach the safety wire to the ring.
7. Measure, pre-drill, and screw the wall mounting screws into the wall at 1″ on center. Leave about 1/8″ gap to the wall to allow the wall mounting adapter to slide in and secure.
8. Attach the safety wire to the wall and then attach the camera to the wall mounting adapter. Adjust angle as needed and you DONE!
