I’ve been thinking about this project for a long time, so it was really nice to see it come together. The table is made with a combination of quarter sawn and rift sawn White Oak. The Legs are attached to the feet of the table with through mortise and tenon joinery and pegged with half inch oak dowels. The trestle is attached to the legs with a massive lap joint and reinforced with a 5 inch lag bolt.
The braces that support the tabletop are attached to the trestle with lap joints and reinforced with 4 inch lag bolts. The combination of joinery and solid 8/4 white oak make the base of this table incredibly strong.
The tabletop is attached to the base with handmade wooden buttons that will allow the top to expand and contract with the seasons.
I hope you enjoy this project video and if you do build the table please share it on your social media and tag me. I’d love to see what you made.
Be good, Jon
