This Old Barn Needs A Little Work

This is a repair I’ve been putting off for a while. The final straw came when I opened one of the drawers inside the shop and found a mouse nest. About a hundred years ago, this used to be a large door on the side of the barn. It’s been closed off for quite some time, and like all wooden buildings, it started to rot from the bottom.

I cut off the bottom 10 inches of the casing and replaced it with Azek. I also replaced the bottom 5½ inches of the doorway with Azek, added 1 inch of Styrofoam insulation, and installed new T1-11 siding.

I’ll be posting the full repair video in a few days, so I hope you’ll subscribe and tune in for that!
