Lately, I’ve been seeing some pretty scary things being done on the table saw, usually by attractive young women wearing next to nothing. Hard not to watch… but mostly because of how unsafe everything looks 
All kidding aside, the table saw is, in my opinion, the most dangerous tool in the shop.

In my last video, I go over some of the things I do—and don’t do—when working with a table saw. These are habits I’ve developed over years of woodworking, and they’ve become second nature to me. I also give a quick tour of the SawStop compact job site saw and share my thoughts on it.
Safety really has to come first with a table saw. Accidents happen incredibly fast, even to experienced woodworkers. I had one myself about 30 years ago that thankfully only resulted in a few stitches—but it was enough to make a lasting impression.
In the video, I also share a push stick design I’ve been using since I first got into woodworking back in the mid-80s. It’s simple, reliable, and something I still reach for all the time. You can download the free pattern and make one for your own shop.
