Tom Kinney's Cherry and Acrylic Piggy Bank

My version of the piggy bank you made for your daughter. The cherry is my favorite wood and the clear acrylic lets the kids see their savings. I use Waterlox finish and then burnish it with brown paper bag. A coat of paste wax gives a wonderfully touchable feel.
To date I’ve made eight of them, three for my grandchildren and five for various friends and neighbors. It’s one of those projects that when people see it they’re amazed at how nice they look and immediately want one.
