We had a successful 2018 beekeeping season with a 265 pound harvest of light and dark honey. We started the season  new hives and got “nucs” or nucleus colonies from Birds and Bees Farms in Columbus, NJ.  About 1/3 of the honey harvest was the lighter-colored honey, which the bees produce in the spring into the early summer. The majority of the honey from the harvest was the darker-colored honey from the fall.  The difference in color has to do with the different seasonal flowers the bees are getting their nectar from.  Here’s a video recap of the 2018 beekeeping season:
