Learn how to repair and glaze a broken window using glazing compound and just a few simple tools. You can find all the tools you’ll need for this project at your local ACE Hardware store or online at  http://www.acehardware.com

Step 1:  Remove broken window panes and use a sharp Carpenter’s Chisel to remove the old window glazing.  Be sure to wear gloves and protective eyewear.

Step 3:  To measure for the replacement window panes, take the exact measurements and then subtract 1/8″

Step 4:  Before replacing the new window panes, prime the entire window with oil-based primer

Helpful Tip:  Use two blocks of wood with screws coming through to act as rests. This allows you to paint or prime both sides of the window or work surface at the same time

Step 5: Once primer dries, insert new window panes and use Glazing Pins and a putty knife to secure the glass.

Step 6:  Use Glazing Compound and add a little paint thinner to make it more pliable.

Step 7:  Use a putty knife to apply and smooth out the Glazing Compound.  Allow the Glazing Compound to dry for two weeks before painting.
